About

The real Chilton County Peaches

We were driving through Chilton County Alabama one day with my grandmother and her sister Nell. Chilton County is known for its peaches. I asked my Aunt Nell when the best time was to pick peaches. Her reply. “May peaches ain’t no good; June and July are.” My grandmother and sisters were just that peaches- soft exterior with hard cores. They had to be with how they grew up. Thus the birth of this blog- The Peach.

This blog with its southern accent is dedicated to my late grandmother Melba Faye known affectionately as “Maw Maw Faye” and her sisters I’ve nicknamed “The Chilton County Peaches”.  It is my hope to take my experiences and blend them with hers to one day create a book. This blog is that journey.

I am a 40 year-old wife and mother of two precious boys. I work at our local hospital in the area of patient experience, oncology, and over our hospital’s foundation.
